Top Tips For Making the Best Impression in Interviews

- Research! The company, the job role and who is interviewing you...
- Dress to impress! You are naturally more confident if you look and feel your best. Bold colours are memorable.
- Arrive early for the interview, seems basic but so important. Make sure you plan your route and know what do if things go wrong.
- Practice answering potential interview questions Use the STAR method - see link and don’t forget your elevator pitch. Make sure you have thoughtful and unique questions to ask the hiring manager.
- Make sure you know your CV! Have a copy with you.
- Showcase your strengths and areas for improvement and avoid talking about what you are not.
- Describe your accomplishments and give examples of previous related projects/work.
- Propose a 30, 60 and 90 day plan
- Tell a story about yourself, allow yourself to be vulnerable.
- Maintain good eye contact, posture (sit up straight and plant your feet firmly on the floor during an interview) and be aware of your body language, try not to cross your arms, especially under a table in front of you.
- Be enthusiastic and clear when you speak and try not to talk too fast! Remember to pause at the end of a question and always be prepared for small talk!
